DOWN

We only use certified down in our products – certified according to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS), certification no. 875085.

Our garments are filled with a blend of down and feathers, either 80/20 or 90/10, where the first number represents the percentage of down and the second, feathers. The higher the down content, the lighter the weight of garment.

How to care and wash your down garment

Do not wash your down jacket too often – but don’t wait too long either. Dirty garments do not keep warmth as good as clean garments. Salt, sweat and dirt can decrease the isolating power of the down. If a stain has occurred, try to treat it with a mild down-specific detergent.

Always follow the wash care label!

Most of our down jackets can be washed in washing machine at home, but in some special cases you might need to hand it over to a specialist. We recommend that you wash larger down jackets in washing machines with a capacity of minimum 8 kg.

Wash your down jacket with other down garments – but do not fill the machine entirely. If the machine is too filled, then there might be a risk that the down garment gets damaged.

Important to know when washing your jacket in the washing machine:

  1. Read through the garment’s wash care label.
  2. Empty the pockets and close all zippers and velcro tapes.
  3. Turn the garment inside out.
  4. We recommend a down-specific detergent.
  5. We recommend you NOT to use fabric softener when washing.
  6. When the washing program is finished it is important that you immediately remove the jacket from the machine and start drying the down jacket and reactivate the water repellency.

How to tumble dry a down garment

Tumble dry your jacket on low heat and take it out every 30 minutes to gently shake and redistribute the down. This helps restore the garments original volume, prevents overheating, and avoids damp down from clumping.

When tumble drying, it’s important not to overload the machine – an overfilled dryer can cause overheating and, in the worst case, damage the fabric.

When the down jacket is washed and dried it should be put on a hanger in an airy space. Do not hang it in the closet straight afterwards, wait a couple of days for the down to get fully dry.

Store your down jacket

Store your down garment hanging on a hanger in an airy space – do not use compression bags or vacuum storage. If you follow this, your jacket will have the best conditions for a long lifecycle.

In the beginning of the season, shake and air your garment outside to make it ready for a new season.

Repair a down jacket

Down is a natural material, there will always be a risk of down leaking from the garment. This is a normal process when the jacket is shaping after the body. If there is down coming out of the fabric, carefully try to squeeze it back into the jacket.

If a rip has occurred on the jacket, we recommend you repairing it using a self-adhesive repair patch. Try to repair the jacket as soon as you notice the rip, in that way you will prevent down from leaking.

Trim & Belt

Remove your faux fur trim decoration and belt from the jacket before washing. Handwash your faux fur trims only if needed. To keep your faux fur trim decoration nice and fluffy we recommend you brush it gently, using a soft brush.
